Integrity Test

Hydrostatic Test

Verification of the structural strength and leak-tightness of pressure vessels, tanks and piping under controlled pressure.

ASME Seção VIIINR-13API 510
The Process

How It Works

The Hydrostatic Test subjects the equipment to a pressure above its design value, using water as the test fluid, to prove its structural strength and leak-tightness before entering service. It is a code requirement for pressure vessels, piping and tanks, and an essential part of final fabrication release and periodic inspections.

Types and Variants

Conventional Hydrostatic

Pressurisation with water to a project-defined value, with pressure monitoring and simultaneous visual inspection.

Pneumatic

Alternative with air or inert gas, applied when a hydrostatic test is not feasible. Requires additional safety controls.

Leak Test

Low-pressure leak check, complementary to the structural-strength test.

When to Use

Where We Apply It

  • New pressure vessels and periodic requalification (NR-13)
  • Storage tanks
  • Industrial piping
  • Final release of fabricated equipment
